Tom, (at right), joined the staff as editorial consultant in January 2002. In addition to developing editorial-related training workshops, Tom conducts Community Newspaper Tune-ups by request at member newspapers to give staff members direct feedback on their products and ideas for improvements. Tom works from his home in Lawrence. He is former general manager of The University Daily Kansan in Lawrence and worked at the Kansas City Star and Fort Scott Tribune as well.
He was inducted into the Kansas Newspaper Hall of Fame in 2010 and has received the Clyde M. Reed Jr. Master Editor Award and the Gaston Mentoring Award.
