Insurance company, KPA settle on damage

The Kansas Press Association will be able to install new carpet, replace baseboard and do other repairs in the basement level of the building after negotiations with the insurance company.

Two weeks ago, employees arrived at work to find water-logged carpet throughout the basement, where the KPA's boardroom, break room, extra offices, computer servers and storage are located. The culprit was a broken hot water heater that leaked continuously for several hours.

The repairs will include new carpet throughout much of the basement and some new woodwork and sheetrock.
