Matt Cecil, who recently took over as associate professor and director of the Elliott School of Communication at Wichita State University, has penned a new book on "Hoover's FBI and the Fourth Estate. The Campaign to Control the Press and the Bureau's Image."

Cecil researched thousands of pages of FBI files to reveal the lengths to which Hoover and the FBI went to use the press to influence the public's perception of the agency.

The 368-page book is published by University Press of Kansas and will come out in February 2014.

Cecil is a former journalism professor at South Dakota State University.
