There were a few surprises across the state of Kansas in Week 1 of high school football.

Two area schools are in to the rankings in this week’s poll. Holcomb enters the rankings at No. 3 in Class 3A after their big season-opening win over Cheney, and Wichita County is No. 2 in Class 1A, Division I, after their loss to defending Colorado state champion Haxtun on Friday. Several area teams are also being considered in the rankings.
