USD 457 Board of Education Meeting Recap September 8, 2025

Garden City Public Schools Board of Education met on Monday, September 8, 2025.  The meeting was held at the Educational Support Center Board Room, 1205 Fleming Street. 

The Board received a building presentation from Garden City Achieve. The school presented about the great things that are happening so far this school year at the facility.

The Board approved the following items during the meeting. They include minutes of the August 28, 2025, Revenue Neutral Rate hearing, Budget hearing, and the regular meeting. Accounts Payable with all major accounts containing adequate balances to meet current obligations. Personnel certified and classified actions. The Garden City High School out of state travel for 2025-26 school year.

Under new business, the district’s Insurance Committee recently met to review supplemental insurance options for district employees. During the meeting, the committee heard a presentation from Benefits Direct. The committee will also have a presentation from American Fidelity. No action was taken on this item at the meeting. The final recommendation from the committee will come to the Board for final approval at the September 25^th meeting.

The Board held three executive sessions after the completion of all other business.  The first executive session was for consultation with an attorney for the body or agency which would be deemed privileged in an attorney-client relationship. The second executive session was for personnel matters for non-elected personnel. The third executive session was for personnel matters for non-elected personnel. No action was taken after the executive sessions.

The next meeting of the Board of Education will be Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. in the Board Room at the Educational Support Center, 1205 Fleming Street.
