Garden City Fire Department responds to apartment fire
Garden City, Kan.–The Garden City Fire Department as dispatched to the report of a structure fire in the 300 block of College Street, just before 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night.
Upon arrival, Command 1 identified a two-story apartment building with heavy smoke and fire visible. Fire crews conducted an offensive fire attack to the upstairs apartments while simultaneously completing primary search and rescue on the apartments with physical fire, followed by surrounding apartments. All occupants of the apartments were found to be safely evacuated prior to GCFD arrival and all operations were performed effectively.
Fire Marshal Robertson responded to the scene for investigation. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental. No injuries were reported, and no damage estimates are known at this time.
American Red Cross was requested to respond and assist with the displaced families.
