Fatal accident early Friday morning claims life of Garden City woman

Garden City, Kan.–A Garden City woman died early Friday morning following a single-vehicle accident in the northeast part of Garden City.

Just after 4 a.m. the Garden City Police Department, Garden City Fire Department, Finney County Sheriff’s Office, and Finney County EMS were dispatched to the 3700 block of E. Mary Street for a reported injury accident. When they arrived, first responders discovered a car had struck a power line post and located the driver and two small children inside the vehicle. The driver, identified as 24-year-old Jaeden Nelson, was pronounced dead at the scene. Firefighters safely extricated the children from the car, and both were transported to the hospital for treatment. One child was later taken to Wichita due to the extent of their injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and no further details are available at this time.
