Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Two teams with similar philosophies will meet up at Elton Brown Field, as Scott City will travel to Hoisington to face the Cardinals in a battle of 2-0 teams.

Scott City picked up a 34-6 home win last Friday night over the Wray Eagles on Military Night. After a scoreless first quarter, the Beavers put up 21 second quarter points, and led 27-0 early in the third quarter when the Eagles returned a kickoff for their lone score. Scott City would hold a solid Wray team to 151 yards of offense, with 69 on the ground. The Beavers would rush for 272 yards of offense, led by Cayden Couchman’s 140 yards and two scores. This year, the Beavers are averaging 350 yards of offense and 35 points through the first two games, while limiting teams to three points and under 150 yards of offense. Couchman has three scores on the ground and one through the air, while Easton Eisenhour leads the team with 22 tackles.

Hoisington is off to a 2-0 start as well, and are ranked as high as No. 4 in Class 2A. They picked up a 39-23 road win in Hesston last Friday night. The Cardinals scored on the first play of the game, and opened things up in the second half. Hesston scored two non-offensive touchdowns, with a fumble return and a kickoff return, as they finished with 400 rushing yards on the road. The Swathers were held to 254 yards offensively. This year, the Cardinals have been averaging 37 points per game and over 400 yards offensively, while limiting teams to 16 points and 225 yards of offense. Taylen Morales has four rushing scores and is approaching 400 rushing yards this year, as they use a balanced rushing attack.

This is the 17th meeting between the former MSAA schools, as Scott City leads the series 12-4. The Beavers have won four straight, including a 29-7 win in Scott City last year. Hoisington hosts the Beavers for the first time since 2013, when the schools were in the same district in Class 3A.

Kickoff is slated for 7 pm, with a 6:30 preame on Mix 94.5, and online at westernkansasnews.com/mix94 and also on the Beaver Broadcasting Network on YouTube.
