Resurfacing to begin on U.S. 56 in Ford County
Ford County, Kan.–According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, a highway resurfacing project is expected to start the week of Monday, September 29 along U.S. 56 starting 1400 feet east of the U.S. 56/ U.S. 283 intersection west for 250 feet.
U.S. 56 will be reduced to one lane in smaller sections as work takes place in the project area. Motorists should expect delays of up to 15 minutes as flaggers and a pilot car direct one-lane traffic through the work zone. The lane reduction will be marked by signs and cones. U.S. 56 will be open to normal traffic when construction is not taking place.
APAC-Kansas Inc., of Huchinson, is the contractor on this $770,590 project. Conditions permitting, it is expected to be completed by the beginning of November.
