Quinter boys, Scott City girls take home cross country titles at Ness City

Ness City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Perhaps one of the warmer meets in recent memory, several schools made the trip to the Ness City Golf Course on Thursday for the annual Clyde T. McCracken Ness City Cross Country Invitaional.

The top three boys teams would come within 10 points, as Quinter would defeat Ness City and Scott City for the title. Spearville was sixth and Wichita County was seventh. Individually, Ness City’s Braxton Gall would be the meet winner, while Scott City picked up a second place finish from Michael Hermosillo and a fourth place effort from Carson Gabel.

On the girls side, it would be tight, as Scott City edged host school Ness City by one point, while Hodgeman County was third and Ingalls was fifth. Ellis would win first and second individually, as Avery Boydston and Taryn Boydston were the top two runners. Greeley County’s Jailyn Brandl was third. Scott City’s Belle Trout was sixth. Joleigh Mazanec from Wichita County placed eighth.
