Goodland claims GWAC girls tennis title
Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Playing on a cool Monday in Scott City, the Goodland Cowgirl tennis team took the Great West Activities Conference title at the tennis courts at Scott City Middle School.
The Cowgirls edge Scott City by four, while Cimarron was third, Ulysses fourth and Colby took fifth.
The top two finishers in Singles and Doubles would earn all-league honors. For Singles, Cimarron’s Tayley Kopper took the top spot, with Goodland’s Ella Linn placing second. In Doubles, Scott City’s Kaylee Felker/Finley Edwards were the league chapmions, with Ashlyn Randa/Roslyn Garcia of Cimarron placing second.
Teams will now turn their attention to regional competition. Class 4A will see Colby, Goodland and Scott City head to the McPherson Regional on Friday, while Ulysses heads to the 4A regional in Buhler. Cimarron heads to the Class 321A Regional at WaKeeney.
