Garden City, Kan.–A Garden City teenager was arrested after driving recklessly through active school zones and attempting to flee from Officers Thursday afternoon.

At around 4 p.m. Thursday, Officers responded to the 2000 block of N. 9th Street for reports of a reckless driver, who was witnessed speeding and weaving around vehicles in active school zones. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the driver, identified as 18-year-old Adan Talavera-Lugo, refused to pull over and continued driving at a high rate of speed. He eventually stopped in the area and was taken into custody without incident. Talavera-Lugo was lodged in the Finney County Jail for Reckless Driving, Flee and Elude, and No Proof of Insurance.

No injuries occurred, but this incident emphasizes the importance of safe driving near schools and reporting reckless behavior. As always, we encourage the community to report traffic concerns and suspicious activity to the GCPD at (620) 276-1300 or 911 for emergencies.
