Holcomb boys, Scott City girls claim Lakin Country titles
Lakin, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–It may not have been as cold as in years past, but runners at this year’s Lakin Invitational were treated to a nice run on Saturday morning at the Lakin Golf Course.
Holcomb’s boys would hold off Lakin and Scott City, while the Scott City girls would run away with the girls team title.
For the boys, Holcomb edged Lakin by seven points, who edged Scott City for third, while Meade was fifth. Holcomb’s Brody Deniston won the meet by nearly a minute, while Lakin’s Zael Bermudez was third, Scott City’s Michael Hermosillo placed fourth and Meade’s Saul Mendoza was fifth.
On the girls side, Scott City was 32 points better than runner-up Lakin, and Ness City was third. Greeley County’s Jailyn Brandl won the meet, while Cimarron’s Jyntri Wilson was second. Joleigh Mazanec for Wichita County was fourth, and Scott City’s Belle Trout placed fifth.
