Garden City places sixth, finish with two medalists

The girls golf season has concluded on Tuesday for area athletes, as the state tournaments wrapped up.

In Class 6A at Hesston, the Lady Buffaloes would finish in sixth place overall with a two day team score of 693. Manhattan was the state champion with a round of 617, while Shawnee Mission East and Olathe West were second and third.

Individually, the Lady Buffs had two medalists in the top 20, with Brooke Savolt finishing in 11th and Ailynn Anderson was 16th. Other Garden City Golfers included Breckyn Lucas finishing in 36th, Megan Burr 39th, Lakyn Warren 54th and Emerson Huber 55th.

At the Class 3-2-1A in Salina, no area teams advanced to day two, and there were several individuals who qualified for the second day. While there weren’t any medalists in the top 20, Cimarron’s Presley Glenn was 22nd, Lileah Villa of Lakin was 25th, Peyton TeVelde of Syracuse was 38th, and Izzy Watson of Syracuse was 52nd. Goodland won the team title by 31 shots over Jefferson West, and the Cowgirls also had the individual champion in Allison Cure.
