The 79th annual Newton Lions Club Pancake Feed was election day at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 421 S Ash St.

The Lions served all-you-can-eat pancakes, plus sausage, scrambled eggs, juice and coffee.

“We are confident with saying we served more than 1,000 people, which is fairly typical for us,” said Erin McDaniel.

Meals were by donation only, the club moved away from tickets during the pandemic of 2019-2020.

“We decided that was a better way to do it, that way everybody can get fed even if they don’t have the ticket price,” McDaniel said. “We look at it as a service.”

The meal grossed about $18,000. There are expenses to pay from that figure.

“Not bad,” McDaniel said. “We really only do this one fundraiser as a club now. We are really grateful to Our Lady letting us use their space.”

All proceeds will benefit Lions Club’s service work in the Newton community.
