USD 457 Board of Education Meeting Recap November 10, 2025
The Board received a building presentation from Kenneth Henderson Middle School. AVID students led the opening of the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. The AVID students went over the Core Values at the school. They presented a video on Core Values at the school. They spoke about how the Core Values affect the school environment.
Under board report, there was a JAG-K Program report from Jarrod Spencer, Erika Schafer, and Natalie Backora. There was a graduation rate report from Steve Nordby, Assistant Superintendent, Ryan Meng, Principal of Garden City High School, Kristina Younkman, Counselor at Garden City Achieve, and Diane Elliot, Virtual Academy. The district, which includes all of the entities, has a 94.5% graduation rate. They also received a budget update from Jessica Nothern, Chief Financial Officer.
Under new business, the Board approved the purchase of UNC Controls for upgrades at Garden City High School.
The Board held an executive session. The executive session was for personnel matters for non-elected personnel. After the executive session, the Board approved Josh Guymon’s contract to be the Superintendent of Garden City Public Schools.
There will be a Special Meeting of the Board of Education on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. in the Board Meeting Room at the Educational Support Center, 1205 Fleming St., Garden City, Kansas. The next regular meeting of the Board of Education will take place on Monday, December 8, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the Board Meeting Room at the Educational Support Center, 1205 Fleming St., Garden City, Kansas.
