Kinsley woman run over by own SUV, dies after hitting deer

Edwards County, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–A Kinsley woman died after being run over by her own SUV after strikng a deer Friday morning, just before 6:30 a.m.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2019 Nissan Pathfinder driven by 44-year-old Rebecca Oberley of Kinsley was eastbound on U.S. Highway 50 just north of 110th avenue when she struck a deer and came to a stop on the eastbound shoulder of the highway. Oberley got out of the vehcile to check the damage. The vehichle was in reverse, and Oberley tripped and the Nissan Pathfinder ran over her.

Oberley was pronounced dead at the scene and was taken to McKillip Funeral Home A passenger in the vehicle, a 14-year-old male, was uninjured.
