Three teenagers injured in accident after fleeing law enforcement
Seward County, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Three teenagers were injured in a single vehicle accident just before 6:30 p.m. Saturday night.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reports that a 13-year-old was fleeing eastbound in a 2016 Nissan Altima on U.S. Highway 54, about five miles west of the U.S. 160 junction, when law enforcement deployed a tire deflation device, when the driver drove into the ditch to avoid the tire deflation device, and struck a culvert and came to rest facing northeast.
The 13-year-old driver was wearing a seatbelt, and was taken to Southwest Medical Center for minor injuries, while the 15-year-old and 16-year-old passengers were also taken to Southwest Medical Center for suspected serious injuries.
According to the KHP report, the 16-year-old was not wearing a seatbelt, while it is unknown if the 15-year-old was or was not.
