Hugoton man injured in police chase in Seward County

Seward County, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–A Hugoton man was injured Tuesday morning just before 11 a.m. in a single vehicle accident in Seward County.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2010 Pontiac G6 driven by 41-year-old Jose A. Fabela of Hugoton was travelilng southbound on U.S. Highway 83, fleeing and eluding law enforcement. Already having a flat tire, Fabela attempted to pass another southbound vehicle on the right, but the driver seeing the other vehicle moving to the right steered to the left and lost control. He entered the east ditch and struck two trees before coming to rest.

Fabela was taken to Wesley Medical Center for suspected serious injuries. The KHP report says he was not wearing a seatbelt.
