Concrete patching, profile grinding resumes along U.S. 50 in Finney County

Posted March 4, 2026

The Kansas Department of Transportation has resumed a concrete patching and profile grinding project along U.S. 50 in Finney County. Work starts west of Holcomb, then extends east 8.4 miles to the end of the 4-lane near 3rd Street.

Traffic is currently using the westbound lanes. As work progresses, traffic will switch to the east side of the project limits in a few weeks to begin patching on the eastbound lanes. Once patch work is complete, the highway will be ground to smooth the pavement.

Motorists can expect minimal traffic delays. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane through the individual work zone. The speed limit will be lowered, and the work zones will be marked with signs and cones. These lane closures on U.S. 50 will remain in effect while work is ongoing, with a road restriction of 12 feet.

RA Knapp Construction, of Lenexa, is the contractor on this $5.1 million project, which is expected to be completed by late spring, weather permitting.
