Posted March 4, 2026

Dodge City, Kan.–Beginning Monday, March 9, a section of San Jose Drive between Avenue A and the west end of the YMCA parking lot will be closed for reconstruction, as shown in the map below. This closure is expected to last approximately eight weeks and is part of a two phase improvement project. The project will include the removal of existing asphalt pavement, installation of new storm sewer lines and structures, a new underground water line, construction of a new walking path, and placement of new concrete roadway. During the closure, a bypass route will be available to provide access to the area, as shown in blue on the map below.

As you travel through the construction area, please remain alert for construction equipment, loose or shifting soil, freshly placed concrete, tar sealant, and other potential hazards. Always be aware of your surroundings when passing through these zones. As construction progresses, please follow all traffic control measures to help ensure the safety of both drivers and workers.

The city reminds residents if they notice any unsafe conditions or issues that require attention, please contact Building Solutions at (620) 225-1199. Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this project.
