Area players earn all-league basketball honors

Four Leavenworth County basketball players have earned top honors from their respective leagues, with a host of others also earning postseason plaudits.Basehor-Linwood High School junior Elliott Brown and sophomore Delaney Wittkop join Lansing High School junior Mehki Stephens on the All-United Kansas Conference First Team, while Tonganoxie High School senior Alyssa Shoeneck earned All-Frontier League First Team honors when those lists were released Sunday.A trio of Leavenworth High School players made it onto the All-UKC Second Team, with senior Ryvonni Cheatham taking the honors for the boys, and the sophomore tandem of Layla Brown and Mya Huewitt making the grade for the girls.Lansing junior Deacon Manthe rounded out the local boys on the All-UKC Second Team, while Pleasant Ridge High School senior Nate Layton took home Second Team honors on the All-Northeast Kansas League crew.Basehor seniors Alaina Schwisow and Kinley Christopher took home All-UKC Second Team honors on the girls’ side, while Tongie junior Addy Schooler was named to the All-Frontier League Second Team and Pleasant Ridge sophomore Haddie Miller hauled in the All-Northeast Kansas League Second Team nod.Leavenworth County was well represented in the honorable mentions, as well.For Basehor, Isaiah Calvert, Sarah McKnight and Chase Young earned honorable mentions, as did Leavenworth’s Gunner Alonzo, Adrian Brantley and Nala Walker. Lansing’s Reece Mattingly, Kyndal Schneider and Jesse Wilson rounded out the UKC honorable mentions.Tongie’s Jaela Herrera and Lachlan McCrae brought home Frontier League honorable mentions..
