Garden City Police make a series of drug arrests
Garden City, Kan.–The Garden City Police Department has made a series of arrests in recent days, from drug to active warrants.
Just before 7 p.m. Monday evening, officers of the Garden City Police Department made a high-risk traffic stop on a vehicle occupied by two individuals with one holding an active arrest warrant and allegations the occupants were in possession of firearms. The stop occurred in the 3000 block of E. Kansas Ave. where 28-year-old Antonio Joseph Hernandez and 41-year-old Leann Rose Acker of Garden City were occupying the vehicle.
During the stop, a police K-9 indicated the presence of illegal narcotics in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle resulted in officers finding 20.6 grams of methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and three firearms.
In addition to the warrant, Acker was lodged in the in the Finney County Jail on allegations of possession with the intent to distribute stimulants, felony possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana. Hernandez was lodged in the Finney County Jail on allegations of possession with intent to distribute stimulants, possession of stimulants, felony possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm by a felon, criminal use of a firearm by a person addicted to a controlled substance and driving while license suspended.
On Sunday night before 10 p.m., officers of the Garden City Police Department made a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 2900 block of Windmill Dr. During the stop, a police K-9 indicated the presence of illegal narcotics in the vehicle. Officers searched the vehicle and found 45.6 grams of cocaine and drug paraphernalia. The driver, 55-year-old Ezequiel Lopez-Diaz of Garden City was found to be in possession of a firearm.
Lopez-Diaz was arrested and lodged in the Finney County Jail on allegations of possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, felony possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia, no drug tax stamp and criminal use of a firearm by a person addicted to a controlled substance.
