Concrete patching project along U.S. 50 north of Garden City extends to U.S. 83

Posted April 24, 2026

The Kansas Department of Transportation will begin concrete patching and profile grinding on U.S. 83 near the U.S. 50/83 junction northwest of Garden City, in addition to the ongoing work along U.S. 50.

Motorists should expect single-lane closures, reduced speed limits, an 11-foot width restriction, and an 85-foot length restriction along U.S. 83. Work along U.S. 50 is ongoing, and lane closures will remain in effect for the duration of the project, with a 12-foot width restriction. Traffic will be limited to a single lane through each work zone marked by signs and cones.

R.A. Knapp Construction Inc., of Lenexa, is the contractor on this $5.1 million project, which is expected to be completed by the end of Spring 2026, weather permitting.

For more information on the project, contact Yazmin Moreno, KDOT Southwest Region Public Information Officer, at 620-765-7080.
