Newton Kansan Athletes of the Week voting opens
The voting process of the Newton Kansan Athletes of the Week for Week 3 of the spring sports season has opened.

This week’s nominees are:
Boys
Ryder Mapes, Newton High School, track. Won the triple jump and took second in the long jump at the Valley Center Invitational.
Evan Koehn, freshman, Hesston High School, golf. Placed fourth at the Andover Central Invitational at 75 and eighth at the Wichita Collegiate Invitational at 77.
Noah Little, Sedgwick High School, track. Won the long jump and triple jump at the Peabody-Burns CKTL meet.
Girls
Ana Lawrence, junior, Newton High School, track. Won the shot put and discus at the Valley Center Invitational.
Cammi Unruh, Moundridge High School, track. Won the 100-, 200- and 400-meter dashes at the CKTL Solomon meet.
Katherine Engel, Halstead High School, track. Won the shot put and took second in the javelin at the Lyons CKTL meet.
Voting is open until midnight Sunday and winners will be announced in the Kansan.
Nominees are selected from results reported to the Kansan as well as culled from various sports statistics sites.
Coaches and administrators may suggest nominees by e-mailing [email protected]. Please include the athlete’s statistics for the week and a photo. Three boys and three girls will be selected as nominees each week.
