Two vehicle accident in Kearny County Sunday afternoon

Kearny County, Kan.–A two-vehicle accident sent four to the hospital Sunday afternoon just after 4 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 50 and West Street in Kearny County.

According to thee Kansas Highway Patrol report, a 2008 Ford F-150 driven by a 16-year old was traveling northbound on West Street, when the teenaer failed to yield to right of way traffic, and collided with a 2015 Ford Explorer driven by 27-year-old Kerrstyn Diane Muncy of Hugoton. The F-150 came to rest facing north on the north shoulder of U.S. Highway 50, while the Muncy vehicle ame to rest facing north in the north ditch of U.S. Highway 50.

The driver and an 11-year old in the Ford F-150 were taken to Kearny County Hospital in Lakin for suspected minor injuries. Muncy, and a child in the Ford Explorer were also transported to Kearny County Hospital for suspected serious injuries.

All four involved in the accident were wearing seatbelts, according to the KHP report.
