Drought continues to intensify in western Kansas

Despite rains last wee across the region, the drought continues to intensify across western Kansas.

According to the latest drought monitor, a majority of the area is in the D2 category, or known as Sever Drought. Along the southwest and southern border in the area, an Extreme Drought (D3) is taking place.
