USD 457 Board of Education Meeting Recap May 26, 2026

Garden City Public Schools Board of Education met during a regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. The meeting was held at the Educational Support Center Board Room, 1205 Fleming Street. 

The Board approved the following items during the meeting. They include minutes of the May 11, 2026, regular meeting. Accounts Payable with all major accounts containing adequate balances to meet current obligations. The following Curriculum Council Items. The intermediate centers include deleting a STEM Course, as it is a duplicate of the Science Curriculum. New elective-Leader Lab. At the high school, a new CTE GCCC Elective: GCCC Advanced Programming, and a new GCCC Elective in GCCC Mobile Robots and Vision Systems.

The Board also approved an addition to the Discipline Policy. The renewal of the district’s KASB membership, including Season Pass and the Legal Assistans Fund contract for the year 2026-27, for $18,770.63. A service contract between the Baord of Education, Unified School District No. 457, Finney County, State of Kansas and Phil’s Floor Care LLC. A service contract between the district, Finney County, State of Kansas and C&C Group.

Under new business, they approved the purchase of a vehicle for Parents as Teachers.

The next meeting of the Board of Education will be on Monday, June 8, 2026, at 6:00 PM in the Board Meeting Room at the Educational Support Center, 1205 Fleming St., Garden City, Kansas.
