Class 6A: Garden City’s Fry 2nd in 3200, Savolt 3rd in Long Jump; Dodge City’s Bogner 5th in javelin

Wichita, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–It was a tough field for both Dodge City and Garden City in the Class 6A State Track & Field Championships on Friday and Saturday in Wichita.

On the boys side, Garden City’s Trevor Fry had a big weekend to close his career out with a second place finish in the 3200M Run and a third place finish in the 1600M Run. Dodge City got a fifth place finish in the 300M Hurdles from Mason Phelps. Olathe North held on for the win over Blue Valley Northwest, while Mill Valley and Olathe Northwest tied for third. Garden City was 15th and Dodge City finished in 20th.

In the girls meet, Brooke Savolt had a high finish in the Long Jump, placing third. Dodge City’s Jersey Bogner picked up a fifth place finish in the javelin, which broke the school record. Olathe North dominated the field, scoring over 100 points, with Blue Valley in second and Shawnee Mission East in third. Garden City was 20th and Dodge City was 21st.
