In the latest drought map released on Thursday, drought conditions continue to improve across the state of Kansas

Southwest Kansas has remained virtually the same, with most of the area in a Severe Drought. The rest is mainly in a Moderate Drought with the exception of southern Meade County, where it is in an Extreme Drought.

Ellis County is the furtherest west that is not in a drought, along with a small portion of eastern Trego County and the northern half of Rush County.

Wednesday and Thursday’s rainfall is not reflected in the latest drought monitor. While there are small chances for moisture over the next week, temperatures are expected to rise beginning Saturday, pushing 100 degrees with wind by Sunday.
