Protection man injured in Ford County crash
Ford County, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–A Protection man was injured in a two-vehicle accident just before 5 pm on Friday in Ford County.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol report, a 2003 GMC Sierra driven by 49-year-old Brian Eugene Plegge of Protection, and a 2002 Peterbilt semi driven by Gregory Ray Curtis of Hoisington, were both westbound on U.S. Highway 400 and just west of 117 Road. Plegge was stopped waiting for traffic to make a left turn, when Curtis failed to yield to traffic in time and struck the rear of the semi.
Plegge was taken to St. Catherine’s Hospital in Dodge City for suspected serious injuries. He was not wearing a seatbelt. Curtis was uninjured and was properly restrained, according to the KHP report.
