Drought conditions improving across southwest Kansas

The latest Kansas Drought Monitor has shown improvement across the state over the last week.

Thanks to several days of rainfall, there has been a relief in drought across southwest Kansas. For the first time in a long time, no part of the state is in the Extreme Drought category or worse.

For southwest Kansas, a majority of the area is in a Moderate Drought, whtin some parts still experiencing a Severe Drought. More areas, particularly in Scott and Lane Counties, are Abnormally Dry or no drought.

Rainfall overnight Wednesday will be part of next week’s drought map. There are small chances of rainfall in the overnight hours over the next week, with temperatures remaining seasonal for most of the next week.
