Wellington has been recognized on a national stage after being named one of 40 finalists in a 2026 contest celebrating the best of small-town America.

More than 300 communities across the country were nominated for the contest, hosted by Parade and Steller as part of the celebration of America’s 250th birthday. Following a nationwide voting process, the field was narrowed to 40 finalists, including Wellington.

“We are incredibly grateful to have been nominated, and even more honored to have been selected as a finalist,” said Valerie Earl, executive director of the Wellington Area Chamber of Commerce/CVB who led the local effort to encourage community members to participate in the voting process.

As a finalist, Wellington was featured in a special edition published by Parade Magazine highlighting communities that represent the people, traditions and spirit that make small towns unique.

The recognition reflects the efforts of local residents, businesses, organizations, volunteers and community leaders who continue to contribute to Wellington’s quality of life and character.

Community support helped advance Wellington through the voting process, bringing attention to the community and sharing what makes the city a special place to live, work and visit.

“Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote and support our community. We couldn’t be prouder,” Earl said.
