Animals rescured during fire in Holcomb

Garden City, KS–Just before 6 a.m. Monday morning, the Garden City Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 101 Santa Fe Avenue in Holcomb, Kansas.

Upon arrival, fire crews reported a single-story ranch-style home with significant fire involvement and heavy smoke. Firefighters successfully completed a search of the residence. All residents safely escaped the home without injury prior to the arrival of fire personnel. Firefighters rescued three animals during the fire attack. The fire was officially extinguished just before 6:15 a.m. Crews remained on-site to handle remaining hotspots.

The Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office was requested to the scene to conduct the investigation. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and damage estimates are not yet known.
