USD 457 Board of Education Approves 2027-2028 School Calendar

The USD 457 Board of Education approved the 2027-2028 school calendar at the June 25^th meeting.  A morning session of school will be held for elementary, fifth, seventh, ninth and tenth grades and students new to the district on Wednesday, August 18, 2027.  The first day of school for all Garden City Public Schools students is Thursday, August 19, 2027.

Some key dates on the calendar include:

• August 9^th – 12^th – Orientation for new teachers
• August 13^th – 16^th – Inservice for all teachers
• August 17^th – Workday for all teachers
• August 18^th – Morning class only for elementary, fifth, seventh, ninth and tenth grades and students new to the district, teacher workday in the afternoon
• August 19^th – First full day of school for all students
• September 6^th – Labor Day observed no school
• September 24^th – Teacher inservice
• October 22nd – Teacher inservice in the morning and teacher workday in the afternoon
• October 29^th and November 1^st – Parent Teacher Conferences
• November 22^nd – 26^th  – Fall vacation
• December 20^th – December 31^st – Winter vacation: school is not in session
• January 3^rd – Teacher workday
• January 4^th – Teacher inservice
• January 5^th – School resumes
• January 28^th – New teacher inservice
• February 18^th – Teacher inservice in the morning and teacher workday in the afternoon
• February 25^th and 28^th – Parent Teacher Conferences
• March 10^th – Teacher Release Day
• March 13^th – 17^th – Spring Break
• April 14^th – Spring Vacation
• April 17^th – Teacher inservice
• May 20^th – Graduation weekend
• May 24^th – Last day of school
• May 25th – Teacher workday in the morning
