Garden City man dies in Hamilton County crash

Hamilton County, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–A Garden City man died Friday morning in a two-vehicle accident around 9:45 a.m., about 11 miles west of the U.S. Highway 50/Kansas Highway 27 junction in Hamilton County.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol report, a 2010 Nissan Frontier driven by 75-year-old Robert James Arellano of Garden City was westbound on U.S. Highway 50, when he crossed over the center line, and side swiped an eastbound 2008 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 29-year-old Garcia Arturo Cacique of Syracuse. The Arellano vehicle continued toward the southwest, colliding twice with a guard rail before coming to rest. The Cacique vehicle came to rest in the eastbound lane.

Arellano was taken to Fellers Funeral Home, and was wearing a seatbelt. Cacique and passenger, 64-year-old Alfonso Navarretearzola of Granada, CO were uninjured, and were not wearing seatbelts, according to the KHP Report.
