Free AI Workshop Coming to Wellington

Local residents and business owners will have a unique opportunity to explore the world of artificial intelligence during a free AI Starter Lab on Wednesday, Aug. 5, at the Wellington Regent Theatre.

Doors open at 3:15 p.m., giving attendees time to grab a snack and get settled before the 90-minute workshop begins promptly at 4 p.m.

Hosted by Workforce Alliance of South Central Kansas, KansasWorks, REAP and Sumner County Economic Development, the hands-on workshop is designed to teach participants how to use artificial intelligence in practical, everyday ways.

“This is a way to continue helping build a bright future for Sumner County,” said Stacy Davis, director of Sumner County Economic Development. “Whether you’re a business owner, manager, employee, entrepreneur, educator or simply curious about AI, you’ll leave with practical tools you can start using immediately.”

The workshop will be led by instructors from FlagshipKansas.Tech, a Wichita nonprofit whose mission is to “propel the tech sector within the state through continuous efforts in awareness, education and workforce development.”

Hundreds of people across Kansas have already benefited from the program. Regardless of experience level, participants will learn ways to improve productivity, communication, decision-making and efficiency through the use of AI.

Space for the in-person workshop is limited. Attendees are encouraged to register by scanning the QR code or by calling 620-326-8779. Participants should bring their own laptop or tablet.
