New Teacher In-Services Start Monday for Garden City Public Schools
Garden City Public Schools is launching new teacher orientations and in-service training for the 2026–2027 academic year. The instruction will focus on classroom management, curriculum tools, and mentorship.
The school district has more than 40 new teachers who will gather for orientation at Garden City High School on Monday, August 3rd. This will kick off an almost weeks-long introduction to the school district. The orientation will also give the new teachers a chance to learn expectations for the new year and get comfortable before classes begin a little over a week away.
The new hires will spend the week taking part in grade-level and curriculum-specific professional learning sessions and engaging in strategies to foster a supportive community for each and every student. Educators will also learn about the various instructional resources provided by the district to support their teaching and learning efforts. These sessions are part of Garden City Public Schools’ work to create a continual learning community that supports staff by providing the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to be successful at educating all students across the school district.
The first day of school for the 2026-27 school year will be Wednesday, August 12th, with a half-day orientation for students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade, seventh grade, ninth and tenth grades, and all students new to Garden City Public Schools. The first full day of school for the district will be Thursday, August 13, 2026. Classes will be in session for the start of the 2026-27 school year.
Garfield Early Childhood Center will start school on Monday, August 17, 2026. The school will be holding screenings on Thursday, August 13th, and Friday, August 14, 2026.
