Two people injured in area accidents Monday
Two area accidents resulted in serious injuries in southwest Kansas on Monday.
The first accident occurred just before noon in Finney County. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 20-year-old Keiran Lee Jantzen of Tyrone, Oklahoma was straveling Eastbound on U.S. Highway 50 in a 2007 Chevrolet C4500 one mile east of East Airbase Road, when the front driver side tire blew causing Jantzen to leave the road to the left and enter the median. He rolled several times and came to a stop on its roof. Jantzen was taken to St. Catherine Hospital and was properly restrained.
In Meade County, a single rollover accident took place just after 5:30. The KHP report said that a 1997 Mercury car driven by 19-year-old Kenneth J. Leterle of Fowler traveling Eastbound on Meade County L Road about 1.7 miles northeast of Meade, when he failed to navigate a curve on the roadway, exiting the roadway in a side skid, entering a field and rolled an unknown number of times. Leterle was taken to Meade County Hospital for injuries. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
