Scott City girls tennis to showcase several new players

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–There won’t be a shortage of players for the Scott City girls tennis team this year. The 2026 team has 21 girls out for tennis on a squad that must replace three varsity players from a squad that saw Finley Edwards & Kaylee Felker team up for an eighth place finish at state tennis last fall. However, a good portion of the team is out for tennis for the first time.

Returning to the varsity lineup are Shelby Massaglia, Keri Cristler and Allie Plummer. Cristler and Plummer were doubles partners down the stretch last season. Ali Cline moves up to the head coaching position after serving as an assistant for one year, while Lisa Powelson is the assistant.

The team started their intrasquad tournament on Wednesday to determine the top spots, as they are one week out from their first tournaments of the season.

Scott City will be at the Cimarron Invitational on Thursday, August 27, while the JV is at the Dodge City Invitational.
