Broncbusters Sweep Trinidad for First Win of Season
GARDEN CITY, KS (Garden City Community College Athletics) — Garden City Community College picked up its first victory of the season Saturday, sweeping Trinidad State in its third match of the Scooter’s Coffee Volleyball Invite at Conestoga Arena.
After dropping a pair of matches on the opening day of the tournament, the Broncbusters responded with a balanced performance against Trinidad, finishing with 30 kills while hitting .250 as a team. Garden City also created problems from the service line, recording 14 aces, and totaled 57 digs defensively.
Nisa Ozturk turned in an all-around performance for Garden City, finishing with seven kills on 12 attacks without an error for a .583 hitting percentage. The setter also dished out 21 assists, recorded 12 digs and added two service aces.
Jaylee Schilling was efficient in the middle, putting down six kills on 11 attacks without an error to hit .545. She also added four service aces. Moriah Hallam recorded three kills on four attempts for a .750 hitting percentage and contributed three block assists.
Bea Da Silva finished with six kills and 10 digs, while Su Koseoglu added seven kills, 11 digs, two aces and three total blocks. Dani Nogueria helped lead the defensive effort with 11 digs and delivered a match-high five service aces.
Garden City finished the match with 10 total blocks, including two solo blocks and eight block assists, as the Broncbusters earned their first win of the 2026 campaign and improved to 1-2 on the season.
The Broncbusters closed out the Scooter’s Coffee Volleyball Invite with their fourth and final match later Saturday at Conestoga Arena.
