Mbato Scores Twice as Broncbusters Roll Past Northeastern, 5-0.

GARDEN CITY, KS (Garden City Community College Athletics) — Garden City Community College controlled the match from the opening whistle Saturday, using a balanced offensive attack and a clean sheet to earn a 5-0 victory over Northeastern Junior College.

The Broncbusters applied pressure immediately, generating several opportunities during the opening 15 minutes. Titoaun Oger forced a pair of early saves, Moses Bernard added another shot on goal and Yun Seungwoo rattled the crossbar in the 11th minute.

Garden City finally broke through in the 17th minute when Mateo Prigent found the back of the net off an assist from Oger, giving the Busters a 1-0 advantage.

The pressure continued, and Garden City doubled its lead in the 34th minute. Aruchi Mbato scored off a feed from Nino Verdie to send the Broncbusters into halftime with a 2-0 lead.

Garden City quickly put the match out of reach after the break. Seungwoo made it 3-0 in the 60th minute, finishing an opportunity created by Oleksii Karas. Less than seven minutes later, Mbato struck again, taking an assist from Kelvy Joseph for his second goal of the match and a 4-0 advantage.

The Broncbusters capped the scoring in the 83rd minute when Kaila Gunduz converted another Joseph assist to make it 5-0.

Garden City’s defense was equally effective throughout the match. Goalkeeper Matias Rideau stopped both Northeastern shots on goal before Nahim Merey took over in the 76th minute to help finish the shutout.

Five Garden City players contributed to the scoring, while Mbato led the way with two goals. Joseph finished with two assists, with Oger, Verdie and Karas each adding one.
