Liberal man dies in semi accident

Ford County, Kan.–A Liberal man died in an accident involving two semis in Ford County just after 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The Kansas Highway Patrol report states that a 2017 Freightliner semi driven by 29-year-old Alexis Serrano of Hesperia, California was eastbound in the westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 54 five miles west of Kingsdown, when he collided with a 2006 Peterbilt Semi driven by 52-year-old Pedri Ariel Torres of Liberal. The collision occurred in the westbound lane.

Serrano was transported to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita for his injuries. Torres was pronounced dead at the scene.

The KHP Report says that Serrano was wearing a seatbelt, while Torres was not at the time of the accident.
