Holcomb boys, Scott City girls take home GWAC Cross Country titles

Posted October 16, 2026

Cimarron, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Thursday’s Great West Activities Conference Cross Country meet didn’t see the most ideal conditions for running. While the temperatures were in the 50’s, which is ideal for the runners, the gusty north winds of over 30 mph were a factor in the race. At the end, it would be the Holcomb boys and the Scott City girls taking home the league titles.

In the boys race, Holcomb took the GWAC title for a fourth consecutive season. The Longhorns won by 17 points over Scott City, followed by Ulysses, Hugoton, Cimarron and Goodland. Scott City’s Michael Hermosillo was the league champion, while Cimarron’s Ian Harmon was second and Carson Gabel from Scott City placed third. Miguel Roman led Holcomb in a fourth place finish.

On the girls side, Scott City took their third consecutive league title, while Hugoton was second, followed by Goodland and Ulysses. Cimarron’s Jyntri Wilson wom the league title for a second straight year, and Hannah Winter led Scott City with a second place finish. Hugoton’s Kenzi Pike was third and Holcomb’s Jade Ardery was fourth.
