Class 6A football bracket revealed

Posted October 24, 2026

The regular season for class 6A football wrapped up on Friday night and the bracket is now set for postseason play.

Dodge City ended their regular season with a 45-6 win over Wichita South to move its record to 3-5, which puts them at the No.9 seed in the west portion of the bracket. They will go on the road to take on the No. 8 seed Lawrence Free State, also 3-5, next Friday at 7 p.m. in the first round. Friday night’s game will mark the first ever matchup between the two schools.

For Garden City, their regular season ended with a 28-27 road win over Wichita East, and its postseason will begin by hosting Wichita East. Garden City finished the regular season at 5-3 to grab the No. 6 seed in the west, while Wichita East went 3-5 to grab the No. 11 seed.

It’s not the first time two teams will meet in back-to-back weeks like this, as in the 2025 season Dodge City beat Wichita East in the final game of the regular season 33-26 but then lost to them in the first round of the playoffs 27-18.

The No.1 seed in 6A west is Derby, who finished out the season 8-0, and will likely play the winner of Dodge City and Lawrence Free State in the second round.

Last year’s 6A state champions Manhattan are the No. 3 seed in the west and will play Topeka in the first round to set up a second-round match up against the winner of Garden City and Wichita East.
