Gas Prices Dip Before Halloween

Posted October 29, 2026

WASHINGTON, DC–The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline fell 5 cents over the past week to $4.22. Crude oil prices above $100 per barrel, however, are limiting further declines at the pump. As drivers fuel up for the weekend, AAA reminds them that Saturday’s trick-or-treating and the end of daylight saving time Sunday call for extra care behind the wheel. With pedestrians out for Halloween and earlier evening darkness ahead, drivers should slow down, put distractions away and watch carefully at crosswalks and in neighborhoods.

The national average per kilowatt hour of electricity at a public EV charging station stayed the same this past week at 41 cents.
