Silent auction to benefit Newspaper Foundation
During this year's convention, we'll have a number of items in a Silent Auction, with all proceeds going to benefit the Kansas Newspaper Foundation. All the items have been donated by Kansas Press Association members, convention sponsors and friends.
One of the items donated for the auction is an original oil on canvas painting by Louis Copt (shown above). Copt is a well-known Kansas artist and former photographer for the Emporia Gazette. Only a few of the items have reserve prices on them, and this painting is one of them. It's been appraised at approximately $5,000, so the starting price will be $4,000.
Most of the other items will be much less expensive, but still have great value. Here is a partial list: one-night stay at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Topeka; weekend night stay in a deluxe guest room at the DoubleTree in Overland Park; Kansas City Chiefs football autographed by De'Anthony Thomas; four tickets to a Wichita Thunder game; framed reproduction of the "Original Rules of Basketball" by James Naismith; a number of wine and gift baskets; Austrian Pine tree; one night stay at the Boot Hill Casino; one night stay at the Peace Creek Inn Bed & Breakfast; one night stay at the Bunkhouse Bed & Breakfast at Wildfire; Fuller Industries commercial cleaning supplies and tools; Tanganyika Wildlife getaway; framed Sunflower print ($200 reserve); Big Brutus passes; canvas print pictures of the KPA Pictures of the Year for 2015 for both daily and nondaily divisions; craft beer from Kansas Territory Brewing Co.; private wine tasting for 20 at Holy-Field Vineyard & Winery; five $100 gift certificates to the Barn Bed & Breakfast Inn; Ralph Lauren shoes for a woman (size 9) and many more items.

Remember: this is a fund-raiser for your foundation.
