Former C-J publisher to lead Florida Times-Union

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Our Florida Times-Union news partner announced this morning that Mark Nusbaum is replacing outgoing T-U Publisher Lucy Talley.

Talley announced her resignation Thursday to take a job as group publisher for community newspapers at Hearst Newspapers.

Nusbaum was serving as vice president of operations for Morris Publishing Group, which owns the Times-Union and St. Augustine Record.

He was promoted to the Morris corporate team last year after serving as publisher of the Topeka (Kansas) Capital-Journal, which is also a Morris newspaper.

Nusbaum joined the Capital-Journal staff as a copy clerk in high school.  He became full-time after graduating from Washburn University in 1977, according to Morris Publishing Group.

He's a 2007 graduate of the Advanced Executive Program in Media Management from Northwestern University in Chicago.  Nusbaum and his wife, Sherry, have five children, according to Morris Publishing Group.

The Times-Union reports Nesbaum is assuming his new duties immediately.
