Two Kansas newspapers, the Topeka Capital-Journal and the Hutchinson News, were named winners Wednesday of Editor & Publisher EPPY awards for online coverage.

The Topeka Capital-Journal won an EPPY for "Twist of Fate," a special print and online edition that was published in June to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the June 8, 1966, Topeka tornado, which resulted in the deaths of 16 people and the loss of several hundred homes and businesses.

The Hutchinson News won two EPPYs, one for best local website in the "fewer than one million unique monthly visitors category and the other for its Agland Podcast, produced by Amy Bickel and Kathy Hanks.
