Chase Honored with Golden Owl Nomination

Posted February 5, 2026

Last week, Wellington High School agriculture instructor and FFA advisor Linda Chase opened her mail to find she had been nominated for a Golden Owl Award. The award honors agricultural teachers who go above and beyond to inspire students and provide exceptional mentorship.

“This is so special to me,” Chase said. “Thank you to my students, their families, and community members who support me and our FFA chapter.”

Anyone can nominate a teacher for the award by highlighting their impact on students and the community. The program operates in Kansas as well as 14 other states. Recipients may receive cash prizes, plaques, and the opportunity to earn the title of Agricultural Educator of the Year in their state.

“I am truly humbled by this achievement,” Chase added. “It’s been a great start to 2026, and I cannot wait to see what the year has to bring!”

Wellington High School FFA is inviting the community to a Dinner and Labor Auction on Monday, February 16. The evening kicks off with dinner at 5:30 p.m. in the WHS Commons, followed by a Silent Auction at 6 p.m. and the Benefit Auction at 6:30 p.m.

Students will be serving spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, and dessert. Donations are appreciated, and everyone is welcome to attend!
